*This isn't a Jon Goff bashing thread*

Sometimes on the spawn board, I see people asking Jon for certain toys to be made...yet whenever I see a post like that, I always wonder if Jon actually has any real input into what goes on with the toys, because he is on the opposite coast and I assume in a different deptartment.

Back when Steve was mod, you could ask him for / about a toy and you KNEW that he was right there in the toy studio and had a lot of input into things. But for some reason it always sounds kind of weird to me when someone asks Jon about a toy getting made. I know he's right there with Todd, but does that really matter? I've always gotten the impression that the toy licensing stuff is handled in NJ and Todd more or less just watches over things and gives approval.

    What do you all think...?

well yeah, I know it's more of a techincal question that Steve could answer, but I guess I was wondering what everyone's impression of Jon was...personally, I don't really get the feeling that he's "at one with the toys"

yeah...I agree with that. He seems like a decent person, but I wonder if he really cares about the requests people make...and if so, can he / does he do anything about it...? hmmmmmmm.....

I can't speak much on Jon, since I haven't really talked to him personally or anything, but I do feel he's done a mediochre job at being a forum mod since he started. I took a board hiatus for the good part of last year, and when I jumped back on, he was mod (like in November). Last I was there before that, Drew Hutchinson and another guy were doing it. It seemed the board was "cleaner" as far as OT posts went then, and he seemed to enjoy being a mod as well as into toys. It started to go to hell to then (its like the phases of the moon or something), and I was busy in my personal life, so I stopped going there, just checking the site for updates, etc.

I personally don't care to ever go back to the forums over there again. The last 5 times I've scanned them in the last week since I migrated here, its been a bunch of flame wars, OT idiocy, and almost NO spawn or McF related posts. It was just pathetic. And the "Objectional Content Policy"... quite laughable when not enforced at ALL.

    Thats my two pennies....

He does seem to pretty much let everything go over there. just seems so employee-like instead of a friend kind of deal. seems nice enough, but not as into it as the others were

E-mail me. I wrote to him about the way the other board is. I'll share some of what he said, but won't post his reply here.
